Technicians at VESCONE

At VESCONE, technicians utilize their skills to the fullest, performing venipuncture and drug calculations, as well as placing arterial lines, nasal lines and feeding tubes. In addition technicians are involved in anesthesia, bandage care, short and long term IV catheter placement, cystocentesis, and urinary catheter placement. Our staff of technicians is responsible for the overall care and well-being of patients and treats every patient as if it were their own. We are proud to have one of the highest numbers of CVT technicians on staff in addition to board certified technicians in Emergency & Critical Care and Anesthesiology.

Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technicians
  • Full time emergency room technician
    Schedule consists of three 12 hour shifts (off 4 days a week).
  • Part time overnight & weekend emergency room technician
    This person will be asked to fill in, when needed, for overnights (7p-7a) and weekends (10a-10p, 2p-2a). Being able to do overnights is required.

REQUIREMENTS:
Certified veterinary technicians with a minimum of two years in specialty practice in an ER/ICU room is required. If not certified, a minimum of 5 years experience working as a veterinary technician is required.

A VESCONE technician is someone who is self-motivated, a quick thinker and someone who is able to multi-task efficiently. This person needs to have very good existing technical skills and should be able to perform accurate physical exams, place IV catheters, calculate drug doses and perform all treatments on a patient with little to no assistance. Good communication skills and compassion a must.

Surgery/Anesthesia Technician Supervisor

We are looking for a qualified individual with excellent leadership, skills, communication and mentoring capabilities who will serve as the Head Technician in the Surgery/Anesthesia Department.

Interested candidates will provide continuous leadership for the surgery department nursing staff and liaisons as well as aid in the organization and daily function of the surgery department. On call rotating schedule including some weekends and holidays required.

REQUIREMENTS:
Associate or Bachelor degree from an AVMA accredited program in veterinary technology with current CVT status. Veterinary Technician Specialty anesthesia or CVT eligible to sit for the VTS examination in anesthesia is required. Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in anesthesia and training under a board certified veterinary anesthesiologist or board certified VTS in anesthesia.  Candidates must have experience in a leadership position.

Full Time Veterinary Surgical Assistant

The Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center of New England (VESCONE) is looking for a qualified individual with excellent organizational and communication skills to work in the surgical department.  Interested candidates will be responsible for:

  • Preparation of the induction and surgical areas for anesthetic induction and surgery

  • Proper care and handling of equipment, instruments and supplies,

  • Cleans, checks, orders and resupplies surgical area and support/storage areas.

  • Recognizes and communicates breaks in aseptic technique.
